Hi guys,

Just trying to get some ideas on what to do with my dining table... The one I haven't bought yet!

I see very few people using table cloths these days and I personally haven't see any that it like.
I don't mind placemats though.

I've noticed lots of homes have vases, flowers etc.

Would love some ideas!

I have a gorgeous vintage white cake stand. I used to have oversized white candle holders but it was such a pain to always have to move them (up to 6 times a day).

Think of something that is not only pretty but functional as we use our dining table ALOT!

We have a large wooden 8 seater table.

Until very recently, I only used a tablecloth at Christmas time. Now I'm using tablecloths and liking the change. No other reason other than something different.

Vase of fresh flowers in the middle is a homely touch.

At the moment? Placemats and coasters stacked up (we use t each meal time), plus a vase of lillies, plus a onesie i need to exchange at target, a box of tissues, a poneapple, a sad-looking fruit bowl, an iphone charger, DH's wallet, a dish cloth and a toy crocodile.
It's usually marginally better, and we sweep miscellanous junk to one end for meals. We only use a. Table cloth at Christmas or when some VIP is over.

I have a small glass topped round table and don't use anything
However in winter I have flowers in a vase on it (to try and brighten up the house), when I have guests for dinner I use placemats and at Xmas I have a small tree that goes on the table.

The lack of table cloth is mainly coz I couldn't find small round ones that weren't plastic.

My mum has a big wooden table - when its just a few people for dinner = placemats, big dinner likes xmas = table cloth.

Table cloths do make it easy to clean coz you can just take it outside and shake it.

I have a large dark wood table. It has a red runner with a glass 'crackle' bowl on it with a candle in it. At dinner time I use place mats

My mum uses table cloths always. Me, only at Christmas as the cat finds them wonderful things to play with! When my youngest settles down a bit, I will be sanding and refinishing it as the varnish has lifted.

Before DD got mobile I was a tablecloths all the way girl.
DD was one of those babies that love table cloths. After losing a frosted glass vase thanks to her table cloth fetish I stopped using them. The table promptly succumbed to 'flat surface syndrome'

She's a bit older now so I'm about to tackle using tablecloths again. I'm really hoping that the kids will leave them alone because when there is a table cloth on the table the dining room stays clean for longer.

My fruit bowl lives on our dining table. I move it each night when I set the table & we use round cork placemats with matching coasters that we received as a wedding gift.

Placemats with a scattering of cat fur Either the toddler or the cat would pull any tablecloths off and the cat would knock anything else left on there over. She sees the table as her morning snoozing spot (it gets the morning sun better than anywhere else in the house)
