On Tuesday night I noticed a lump in my left breast.
Was in the shower, soaping up and felt it as soon as I rubbed my hand across my breast (i.e. wasn't feeling for it/not applying much pressure). As I soap up my chest every day in the shower, I figure it must be a pretty recent thing or I would have felt it before.

It's small, hard and mobile (so if I push on it I can move it side to side etc.... not that it's moving around) and on the side, almost armpit but still in the bra area (if that makes sense). It's not sore or tender to touch.

I have a large hive, presumably from an insect bite, on the left side of my stomach, so thought it could be a lymph node reacting to that or a fibroid (My sister had these in her breast, but I did think they were more common in bigger busted women - she's a DD and I'm a B). So I thought I will wait a couple of days and see if it goes down, in case it's related to the hive/just general changes due to my cycle.

Last night I took a Phenergan to try and get rid of the hive (had been putting anti-itch cream on it but no change) to see if the lump would go once the hive did. But no change in the hive or lump this morning.

However this morning, the lower lefthand side of that breast (i.e. the side closest to my arm, same side the lump is on) is sore and tender to touch, so wearing an underwire bra is uncomfortable. Also raising my left arm/stretching causes discomfort too.

I've made a doctor's appointment for next Tuesday... but was just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this before?

I would be seeing a doctor before next Tuesday. If the breast has become tender there is a good chance you have an infection in the breast. And yes, you can get mastitis when you're not BF, I learned that one the hard way! obviously it also needs the other follow up which I'm sure is what you've booked the doctor for, but I would try and get in sooner if you can.

similar thing. quite a large lump felt it without trying (like you).

I got it checked out. My Dr sent me to the breast clinic.
they found out it was just a cyst and drained it and it was gone.
(but I was FREAKED out! in the weeks between finding it and finding out it was nothing serious)

I had a similar thing about 7 years ago. Had to have a biopsy, and it turned out to be a Fiberadenoma. Which is fibrous tissue. I ended up having surgery to have it removed.

Please go see your gp as soon as you can, this could be nothing but it could also be something, don't take any chances.

Another who thinks it sounds like a fibroadenoma. Especially since it is moveable. I had one and the woman who did the ultrasound said cancerous breast lumps are typically not moveable. Best see your Gp and ask for an ultrasound.

Something to consider, breast tissue is very tender. The soreness may be because you've been constantly prodding the area since you've found the lump. I've had a couple of breast lumps (just cysts) and there was no soreness until after I noticed them and started prodding them. If I left them alone for a few days the soreness would dissapear.

Still, you need to get in to see a GP as soon as possible. Best wishes.

If it becomes more painful then you should see someone before Thursday as it may be an infection which needs treatment.
There is a far greater chance of this being nothing to worry about than being something sinister but it certainly needs attention asap.

I would try and see if you can see your GP this week just in case it is an infection.
