We are probably going to go with Veronica if this baby is a girl but I like the name Maren as well.
Can be spelt Marin also but I think this is the masculine form.
Wdyt? MN potential perhaps?

Medium sized fresh water crayfish, rare ones are blue. Spelled differently, but that is what springs immediately to my mind.

I like Maren okay. I looove Megan - when its pronounced meggin - but everyone *sniffle* says its dated/over-popular (how can it be both?!).

I think Maren is pleasant but I find Veronica cuter/pluckier sounding. Veronica Marin sounds really good.

Yum!

I'm wondering if pronunciation will be a problem. How would you pronounce it?
