I thought I was going to avoid it this time but in the past couple of days heartburn has hit big time, I'm sitting here at work with it bad. I'm about to duck down to the pharmacy and grab something for it. What would you recommend and what is safe to take?

Thanks original.gif

A glass of warm milk might help.

Zantac, the 12 hour ones seem to work better for me rather then the 24 hour ones. I had quick ease, maylanta and gaviscon and while they gave relief it didn't last long and I was taking it as many times as you were allowed (and it tasted horrible, chewing or drinking)

My OB told me Zantac and the pharamist explained that it worked different to the others so it might take a while to work. (as in a few days) and I could take gaviscon or whatever if I needed instant relief. By the next day it was working, some days if I eat too much acid foods I can still feel it a bit before I am due to take the next course but I don't have the constent from the minute I wake up and drink a glass of water to the time I got to bad reflux only getting a short break after taking some yuk drink.

You could try quickeze, they are easy to carry around at least.
Or buy a bottle of Mylanta to keep in your drawer at work.

These were only short term fixes for me, I ended up being prescribed Zantac but that didn't work either so towards the end I just stopped eating.

Anyhow, I hope you get some relief. Heartburn sucks.

I'm past the stage of milk really doing much unfortunately original.gif

I was thinking Zantac as I remember how much it helped DD1 with her reflux pain as a baby LOL

I'll pop downstairs now and chat to the pharmacist. Thanks!

I went to the pharmacy and asked them. The lady assured me that Mylanta Extra Strength is fine in pregnancy. The pack says it's ok but don't exceed the recommended dose.
I double checked with my midwife. She said don't take it but try milk and a tsp of bi carb soda.

Milk works fine. Haven't tried it with bicarb soda.
