Not sure if some of you may think this question is a little silly (my partner thinks there is being cautious and then there is being crazy - of which he thinks I am the second!). But I'm of the mindframe that when it comes to producing a healthy child there is no such thing as being too careful so I will do whatever is safest for my (hopefully one day please God) baby.

Ok so just a query about what make-up is safe during pregnancy? I'm not one of those people who is obsessed with their looks - I'm only asking because I have always had bad skin so I wear foundation pretty much every time I leave the house - not for vanity purposes but so I can feel ok to at least get out of the house and look at people without thinking they are staring at my pimples.


I would really love to hear from someone that is pregnant or someone that has had children - Is foundation safe to wear daily during pregnancy? Is there any make-up I should stay away from or any types of make-up that are safer than others during pregnancy?

i don't think it would matter too much. some people don't like to use makeup, body products, hair colours, etc, during pregnancy that have ingredients that aren't natural.

if you're concerned, i would perhaps try some mineral makeup. something like Nude, which will still give you good coverage but good for sensitive skin.

as for me, i didn't change my make up whilst pregnant and i wore makeup everyday for work.

When I found out I was pregnant I stopped using my anti wrinkle creams and the like because the ones that I used had added vit A. (which is only something I started using in the last year or so, I never worried too much about mositeriser -sp?- or cleansing or anything until about a year ago) My actual make does not have vit A or any nasties in it, however with morning sickness to 16/18 weeks and realy bad reflux from 16 weeks on wards my make up routine has gone to the dog house, really I need that extra 10-20 minutes in the morning. I also never found I got pimples until I was pregnant, so I am using a light weight foundation (much like I did when I was a teenager) and only really using it on the weekends/when I go out as even then I get a few pimples. If I used the foundation I used to use (which was a heavy matte based one) I would break out in a bizzillion pimples.

I am wearing mascara and lip gloss (when I remember)

Previous to getting pregnant, I would apply the works every morning, and carry around a little dior soft bag with for touch ups durning the day.

I think really though I was going over the top not wearning my anti wrinkle stuff.
