Hi Guys - Hopefully I'm not asking too much
I'm your average jeans, tees and skateshoes mum and I don't think I've ever worn a dress. My 5 year old DD is in a wedding and I'd like to surprise her (and everyone else) by frocking up. I've found a dress I love http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/plum-...g-special-dress The only problem is I don't understand what I can wear with it Is anyone able to make any suggestions and help point me in the right direction please? Your help would be fantastic Some things that might help... Season: Mid Autumn Me Height: 5'10" (near 180) Me Size: Very large boobs and a very heavy pear shape Hair: Short and brown Budget: Moderate I guess, maybe a few hundred over the cost of the dress |

That's not a boots dress. Get yourself a pair of heels in neutral (so you can wear them again). Over the top in Autumn I would get a nice pashmina. There is plenty to choose from on ebay.

It's a lovely dress but I agree with PP in that it's not a dress to wear boots with. Also a pashmina is a great option.

Look at birdsnest.com.au. Then click on 'styled outfits'. That way you can get ideas for an entire look. You can also build your own profile based around your likes/dislikes, and body shape.

I saw a wedding party where all the bridesmaids were wearing yellow Converse All Stars in the low style.
They were wearing yellow 50's style dresses. The look worked.......So just my 2 cents you can find a dresses that dont have to be worn with heels! This post has been edited by twinboys: 24/01/2013, 08:34 AM |

Agree that boots wouldn't suit. If you're not comfortable in heels, even strappy flat sandals would look good.
I think wearing dangly earrings would look nice (if you have your ears pierced....) but a necklace would also look good. Agree with PP suggestion of pashmina. I love them! What time is the wedding? If nighttime/more formal dress code, i'd go with black shoes and black pashmina Daytime, neutral/metallic shoes with pashmina that has the dress colour in it. I'll try and find some links to explain my examples. |

Statement necklace:
http://www.colettehayman.com.au/shop/stone...ace-id9134.html Black necklace http://www.colettehayman.com.au/shop/black...ace-id8392.html Sparkly earrings: http://www.colettehayman.com.au/shop/metal...ing-id7784.html Fancy black earrings: http://www.colettehayman.com.au/shop/point...ng--id7274.html Strappy silver sandals: http://www.theiconic.com.au/Emmy-70977.html Black sandals: http://www.theiconic.com.au/Countdown-79219.html Bright sandals: http://www.theiconic.com.au/San-Paulo-65718.html (I think if you could find a pashmina/jewelry with matching colours these would look super nice!) Go either big necklace or big earrings, not both. (FYI I've gone with cheaper websites for examples) If you go with open toed shoes, paint your toes the colour of your dress! |

Wow.
You guys rock I googled "what is a pashmina and how do i use it?" - ok so if I want to wear something like the statement necklace asdf89 posted (ears not pierced in lobes so earrings are out), would I wear the pashmina around my shoulders? Or are they not something I could wear together? And I'm embarrassed to admit it; I've never worn shoes that show my toes, I think my toes and heels are kind of manky. I couldn't wear black converse like twinboys mentioned? Do those shops with the ladies in masks fix manky feet and paint toes or only finger nails? |
