The greatest gift is a passion for reading
I work at a public library and we are open on Saturday but closed on Monday as Monday is the gazetted public holiday. However I noticed that our local public library is closed on both the Saturday and the Monday due to the public holiday.

Also my DH s a volunteer surf lifesaver and they have to patrol on Sundays, public holidays and short hours alongside the council lifeguard on Saturdays. There is now much confusion as they are being told to patrol full hours on Saturday alongside the council lifeguard.

So how about you, are you working on Saturday? And is it being considered a public holiday?

The stupid it burns...
I work for a large supermarket chain. If you are normally rostered on a saturday and a monday you have to elect which day you will get the public holiday benefit for. I don't work either days but if I did work i'd have to choose which one to get double time and a half for.

I work for a major supermarket in Vic.

Saturday and Monday are both paid as public holidays for us, rather than Monday being a replacement.

The same thing happens for us with boxing day and new years day, if the day falls on a weekend, then THAT day AND the following monday are BOTH public holidays.

Liadan see that's the thing with us usually, both days become the public holiday meaning we are closed. This is the first time we have been open on the traditional date for the public holiday. No overtime, nothing

I'm not rostered to work mind you but would be annoyed if I was as we usually do something as a family on Australia Day.
