I have automatically been putting a singlet on our 1 month old. Just because, I can't give a better reason. They do ride up a bit under some of the wider necked outfits he has.

Is there a reason to always start dressing with a singlet, that's lurking in my subconscious, or can I skip them. It is summer after all......

The only time I used a singlet with DS was when it was really hot and that was all he was wearing.

It is personal preference, some people like them.

I usually put bub in a singlet but now that it's summer and it gets over 30 degrees I don't unless it's cooler than that. I'm not sure with a little bub though. If you are concerned about the singlet riding up you can use a singlet suit (a one piece that is a singlet), Taget have good ones. I buy Target singlets too because they tend to be a bit longer than other brands. When it's really hot I dress bub in a singlet and nappy with nappy cover type pants or one of his nicer MCN ( modern cloth nappy).

depends how cool it is. whe dd was newborn she would wear a singlet if it was around 22 degrees or under. over that and she didn't. if it was a hot day she would just wear a singlet, a really not day and she was wrapped to sleep she would wear nothing.

Me too, much to my MIL's horror!!

If they needed an extra layer, I tended to use a t-shirt bodysuit, which stopped the riding up.

No, skip them. I wouldn't want to wear double layers in this heat. In summer I'd dress my babies ( and I had 2 summer newborns ) in a singlet and nappy alone. I didn't even swaddle all the time. Or you can get those sleeveless legless onesies.
It would depend on your house's cooling and max temps of your area though. It gets hot here.

1st child yes, third child no original.gif

I have started wearing a singlet myself in winter. It makes a huge difference to how warm I am.

I nearly always did. I love singlet suits with press studs at the bottom as mentioned by PP. My favourites were the soft Marquise brand.
