Hi my 5 year old DS is starting prep next week and I am starting he bedtime and wake up pattern now to get him ready!
What time does your 5 year old go to bed and wake up. He has always been a bit of a night owl even as a bub and I have been gradually getting his sleep time earlier. Currently I'm trying for in bed at 7 and usually sleeps till 6:30-7. Is that enough sleep for him? I'm expecting when he starts prep he will probably we exhausted and ready to sleep earlier. He currently doesn't fall asleep till around 8-9 he just never seems to fall asleep early unless he has had a huge day. Thanks for reading |

My 5yo FYOS went to bed at 730. He falls asleep sometimes straight away, other times by 830. Hes an early bird so is up by 6-630. He was used to 4 days of daycare and wasnt really tired until end of 3rd term. Other mums have told me is par for the course.

Yes, my DS(7) still has a bed time of 7 but stuffs around in bed until 7.30ish and his get up time is 6.45. HE will be exhausted from next week onwards. Trust me.

Depends on the child.
I have energiser bunnies. Up 5-6am, trouble getting them down before 7-7.30pm and than still awake at 9pm (thankfully usually quiet in their beds). DS1 didn't crash any earlier when he started school. I am not expecting DS2 to either. DS1s friends were falling asleep before six, we called 8pm a good night. DS1s friends had troubles being woken at 8am, he was bouncing out at 5-6am as normal. |

At that age, it was 7-7.30 bedtime. My 8 & 9 year olds still have a 7.30pm bedtime. By the time they wind down, it can be 8.30 though.
