Hello!

Our DS will be born in March and we have already had a named picked out for a boy since before we had even thought about kids saving us lots of stress and fights!

Our baby will be Lucas (light) Robert (bright).

My questions is - did the meaning influence your name choice?
It's a bit of a non-issue for me - the name is staying for family reasons - but I am starting to get concerned I'm having a glow worm!! Haha.

If a cat doesn't like you, then what's wrong with you?
My sons name means barrel maker. So no meaning doesn't mean anything to me.

If I like a name, I'll go with it, if it has a nice meaning then bonus!

it does for me as I come from a culture that places more importance on the meaning of the name than the sound IYKWIM. My children all have european first names with connections to their fathers family history and my cultures middle names. @ of my children are called by their middle names though.... suits them more

My son's name means, he who supplants (or the usurper). So the meaning wasn't important, we just loved the name.

My name means 'black' followed by 'honourable'...

I did not grow up to be a black panther.

One of my nephews is 'the greatest of all' followed by 'a wind'....

He CAN tend to be a bit of a hurricane at times...!

I'm hoping my mother didn't choose names based on meaning... as one of my sisters names means lily, the other sisters name means happiness and mine means... healthy and wide mellow.gif tho I was quite a sizable baby haha.

I think just pick a name you like, if it's got a nice meaning that's a bonus (and if it's got a funny one it just means you have a good story/joke for the future)

DDs name means Mine in Italian, yet in Scandinavian it means Bitter..as in bitterly wanted child.

We are going with the Italian version

My English first name means "descendent" so, yeah, I guess my mom was playing it safe.
