I had the birth from hell and I would go back to Sutherland in a heartbeat. I had just about everything go wrong and they were just wonderful. I could not have asked for more from them.

Wow, went to Sutherland Yesterday and what can I say!
What a great hospital, staff really friendly, the whole place was spotless. The midwife seen I was a bit edgey (first pregnancy, irish and completely clueless about the Australian hospital system) so she kept me and Fiance behind and talked us both through what will happen now. I am so relieved. |

Sutherland is wonderful. I have had one at Sutherland and one at st George and Sutherland was so much better. I also had a terrible birth at Sutherland but the midwives were so wonderful and couldn't help me enough. If I had another I would go back to Sutherland in a heartbeat.

I though they were great. I felt understood and they were obliging during prenatal visits and for the birth, and a severe BH episode at 30weeks.
I only stayed in for 12hrs post birth, but they were still lovely and left me to my own devices as I wanted. The at home midwife visits were great. I am going again. |

My DS2 was also born in Sutherland in late October 2005 and I thought the antenatal care was rubbish too! Massive waits, never saw the same person twice, some of them were so busy with their checklists they'd not look at me for the whole appointment.
I barely saw a midwife while in labour or the days afterwards, luckily it was a straightforward birth. The OB who came to stitch me up afterwards didn't acknowledge me at all, except to tell me he was 'nearly finished' when I howled that I could feel him stitching me. He couldn't be stuffed topping up the anaesthetic. I went into shock. I hope things have improved! Not sure if it's an option but my cousin just gave birth at Kareena (?) across the road and was treated like a princess. This post has been edited by The Old Bag: 24/02/2013, 07:54 PM |

I had my second child at Sutherland transferring from Randwick at 39 weeks pregnant in 2008.
I couldn't fault it, right down to having my own room as a public patient. My only complaint was one horrible midwife on the ward. There was also one exceptional midwife who took over from the other midwife and was absolutely fantastic. Everyone else was wonderful |
