8 month DD is in the Compaq TNA rear facing and almost every time we go out she will suddenly cough like she's choking on her spit and cry. It will wake her momentarily out of a nap but she'll go straight back to sleep afterwards. Has anyone had something like that happen? I'm a bit worried that she might not cough it up one day. She isn't a refluxy baby either.

Also does anyone else find the Compaq TNA really bulky in a Subaru Impreza or have I just installed it wrong?

What do you mean Compaq TNA? Do you mean this:
Compaq or this
Meridian Tilt and Adjust
If you mean that latter, then yes that seat would be incredibly bulky in a Subaru Impreza. I used to own an Impreza and we had the earlier model of Compaq which was smaller than the current model. That seat fitted OK.

Re: the coughing, have you thought about getting the installation checked by a professional? It's quite tricky to do it properly unless you have been shown how, and a study showed that most people do it wrong. I believe the Compaq is quite reclined RF, but I can't see why that would make her cough. I imagine she sleeps flat on her back for example, without coughing?

Thanks for that! I meant the Tilt and Adjust. We have the Compaq in my parents car but hardly use it. I'll go get it checked out, as DH did the installation.

Ok, the Meridian is one of the biggest convertible seats you can get, so it would be bulky in your car.

Does her head flop to one side a bit? I have had this happen with a child, every time they fell asleep in the car they sounded like they choked, I ended up propping their head up to keep the airway right open and everything was fine from then.
