This is a total first world problem but I need help! I am sleeping alot on my left side. I know I roll onto my back and onto my other side at times as I wake up if I am on my back for too long. My problem is that it is hurting my ear! Yup I am totally comfy on my side (it is how I sleep normally) but I tend to change the sides up and roll around a bit when not pregnant but I know I am not doing this, because I am waking durning the night and my ear is almost on fire. I have small ears and they are really cartlidgey and hard and when they get squeeshed they really hurt (if I wear my glasses to work I can't wear my headset for my phone as this does the something) I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has had this issue and if they invested in anything that worked. Another 15 weeks of this my ear will be really sore lol.

Not pregnant, but have the same problem with my left ear; it's my preferred side too. Hurts like crazy when I lift it from the pillow...but unfortunately I have no suggestions.

Damn OP that sounds annoying and a sore ear doesn't tickle.

Do you think that maybe a softer pillow would help, I am sorry I cannot offer much more help!!

Don't worry, soon you'll be peeing so much at night that you'll be up every few hours anyway, and able to change your position when you get back into bed!

I prefer sleeping on my right side but when I was pregnant I deliberately slept on my left side also. Basically I changed which side I slept on each time I got back into bed after peeing. Much easier than attempting to return the whale to the ocean, I mean, trying to roll over in bed. I got used to the different side after about a week, and I knew it would only be for a few hours each time.

Once DD was born I went back to sleeping on my preferred side only.

What about some sort of donut pillow inside your pillowcase? Or try and make a bit of a hollow in the stuffing in your pillow so that your ear can go into the hollow and have less pressure on it?

You can buy side sleeper pillows that have a little ear hole. I have no idea if they're comfortable or not. My ear gets like that sometimes too, but it's because of the tragus piercing, not just natural oddness wink.gif

You can get special pillows that have a little hole for your ear. One of the infomercial ones, the Side Sleeper, has an indentation.

I get that too if I lie on one side for too long. I just shift my body pillow a bit to rest under my head to cushion it a bit. But then if I sleep on that and my regular pillow I get headaches... Conundrums... !

Thanks ladies, I will be looking into sleeper pillows with a hole. Also for others that have this same problem I was searching and not only can you get these pillows but you can also get gel pads.

Hopefully you other lovely ladies don't have anymore sore ears original.gif
