I've recently bought a house and would like to know your thoughts on feature walls.

Currently the whole house is coloured in a latte colour. Looks fine in living areas but not really my cup of tea for my room or boys room (they're sharing).
I'll keep this colour in the living and hall areas for now.

I'm thinking of antique white with either dusky blue or a soft turquoise on one wall for the boys and my room maybe white, not sure yet.

Not sure if I'd call it a feature wall as its not going to be a bold colour but do you thing this look is dated? I do like some colour but I not want the house to look like a circus. A boys room in latte is a bit blergh!

Wdyt? Potential circus or tasteful?

I love a feature wall done in wallpaper, so in a bedroom, behind the bedhead would be great. To me a painted feature wall is a little yawn but it's not a bad thing by any means!

Personally I'm not a fan. I'd rather just paint the whole room one colour and keep it a muted shade if you don't want a very bold look.

I don't particularly like them. I've painted them in the past and then painted over them when I got sick of them quite quickly.

I've found that often, with the darker colour, that they make a room feel smaller.

But other people will have different ideas and think they are lovely.

If you want one, then paint it. Maybe start with one room. If you don't like it you can paint over it.

I would probably go white and then just add splashes of colour around the room.

My parents recently repainted their whole house and my mom was planning on a darker feature wall in the kitchen and living room. The rooms are huge and could have handled it, She did it and honestly it brought out the worst pigment of the tiles and didn't look nice at all! So she went back to all one colour and the tiles looked ok again. (She doesn't like her tiles but is stuck with them for now)...lol.

I think it depends what your flooring looks like and how it all blends in.

I've got a feature wall in my bedroom and in the lounge room. I did them a year ago and I love them, but I do feel the trend now is to go the full colour.

Academic, I've though about that but they're ages are 6 & 8 and didn't want that typical baby boy light blue room.
I'm loving some of the soft lime/apple greens but all their bedding has blue or red in it and it may look a bit like a hotch potch!!
