I need to replace the aerial for TV in my house, my current one is quite old and only picks up a couple of the channels which is a giant pain, and the signal is also not good enough for my PVR to work off it so I can't record any shows which drives me crazy.

I am going to ring around today and get some quotes, but I was wondering if anyone had done it and what you paid as I don't even know what would be a good price. In terms of electrical and cabling, my brother is an electrician and has put in new wires and cables etc, everything is there ready to go, its just a matter of simply unhooking the old one and getting a new one installed so it should hopefully be a simple straight forward job.

And if anyone is in the sutherland shire area of Sydney, do you have any companies you would recommend to contact?

Is there a reason your brother or your DP don't want to do it themselves? (not you - you are pregnant and shouldn't be climbing on the roof!)

With all the cabling in place it really is just a case of screwing it to the roof, plugging in the cable and pointing it in the right direction (look at the other ariels in the street) - if you have a ladder and a screw driver that's it!

I probably could get him to do that, but I'd have to source a new antenna thingy anyway so he said its probably just as easy and not much more expensive to get someone come out and do it. But that's a good point, I'll talk to him. I'm wary of asking too much of him though as he's just rewired our entire house and done a huge amount of hours of work for us at no cost other than materials lol (and a couple of cases of beer )

I do remember him explaining something about it but I admit to only half paying attention because I was engrossed in something on my ipad .

We had our done with some new cabling. Was well under $200 (seem to think only $125) so very happy to pay that to keep DH off the roof.
