Hi,

I've been looking at drink bottles for ds5 and came across the Contigo ones with the autoseal.

Does anyone have one and are they good?

I was thinking from the point of view that it won't be able to leak in his bag, do the kids find them easy to use and drink from?

We have just started using a Nalgene Grip-N-Gulp for DD (5). I thought it would be too hard to drink from but she really likes it. Interested to hear about the one you are looking at OP as I would like another option for my 2 year old.

PS The Grip-n-gulp is very easy to clean and leak proof.

My 2 yr old DD has the contigo water bottle but the auto spout. Its great and she opens and closes it easily - good quality ones that last. Ive taught preschool children and quite a few had the autoseal type ones and had no troubles in using them. It is easier then lids, and some of those pop top type ones can be really hard for them to open, and they dont need to remember to close them

They are fantastic! I have an insulated one and it is amazing. To drink a hot drink I have to wait at least 30 minutes after making to be able to drink it (and I like my drinks extra hot!) I got sick and tired of leaking drink bottles and flaky spouts that I have purchased the hydration ones for the kids (and think I will pick up one each for DH and myself before we go camping next week).

On the cleaning the lids. Once a week I soak in boiling soapy water and then use a bottle brush/scrubbing brush to to get all accessible parts and rinse well. TBH, if you rinse out the water bottles and air dry after use, they don't really need a good wash. My kids only ever have water in them anyway. It is more a problem with my insulated one where I usually drink hot chocolate out of.

My DS has been using these for years with no problem but DD has difficulty so it may depend on the child. What I like about the stainless steel ones is that they are virtually indestructible. DS always chews his cups but is unable to chew these. He did manage to pull the push mechanism off the plastic ones but has had no luck with the ss one. As PP said, they really can't be pulled apart to clean properly and I always wonder what kind of yuckiness lives in that lid. I occasionally throw the lid in the dishwasher as I am hoping the heat might help kill the bacteria. In saying that, DS is still alive!

Mum to two boys!! :O
I love them. My kids have had them for a couple of years. They don't leak, are easy to use and I have no trouble with cleaning them.

Only drawback is you can't buy the lids separately in Australia and a couple of times they have suffered a direct drop onto the lid and its started leaking and then I have to replace the bottle. They are very hardwearing though. My kids have two each and they are still good as new after a year of daily use.

Best drink bottle I've ever had. Never tried with a child though, but never leaks or anything. Roni's stores seem to be selling them cheap the moment if you have any close by.
