Hi all original.gifI'm new to this forum and I'm not sure if I'm posting inThe correct section...I've been ttc for 6 months now and I have pcos.I've been to a fertility specialist which he ran tests etc and all is goodJust that I don't ovulate all the time. I was on clomid for one cycle only on 25mg and that didn't work so now he wants me to do FSH injections. Can anyone in my situation shed some light? And with any success? Also how much does it cost??
Thanks original.gif)

Hello and welcome?

I was on fsh last cycle and just started again - not sucessful yet! original.gif

they are trying to get me to produce two eggs to up my chances. i am on gonal f 75 units which i start injecting nightly at cd4 and go in for a blood test and ultrasound on cd9 and cd11 to ensure it is working but also that there are not 3 or more follies that will produce in which case they would cancel the cycle. i inject the fsh up until the night before they tell me to trigger and then the next morning i trigger with 250 units of ovidrel then the next day go in for my iui.

there can be side effects which your dr should go through with you but i just felt a bit tired. that and some moodiness are the most common.

Good luck!

HiI too have pcos, and apparently all good otherwise. Clomid did not work for me until i took 150mg (started on 25mg and worked up). Now just finished 4th cycle at 150mg. I can do 1-2 more until its FSH time. Seems odd in my experience that dr would suggest giving up clomid so early. Best of luck.

I too would question giving up on clomid so early.
i started on 50mg, then went to 100 then possibly 150(I forget lol, it was a few years back).
Also are you taking metformin for the PCOS(if you are insulin resistant as well )?
Also 6 months isn't very long to TTC naturally before seeing a FS, but it is age dependent I guess. Are you over 30?
Most people tell you not to worry until 12 months are up.

Mirror, mirror, shiny glass, tell me that is NOT my ass!!
I'm assuming he was tracking you whilst on Clomid and saw no response - so it wouldn't suprise me if he starts you on FSH injections. With FSH injections it gives him more control over the cycle and be able to up the dose or lower it, depending on how you are responding.

I found the s/e's on Clomid worse than on FSH. But I was one of the unlucky few that got hammered with s/e's on Clomid.

As for the cost, with my IUI I was out of pocket about $400-$500 (that included all blood work, drugs, IUI etc.), if you aren't having IUI it will be cheaper. original.gif
