Hi,

My bub who is 14 weeks sleeps very well when he is swaddled. His startle reflex is still very prominent and it affects his sleep when his arms escape. I have tried the Love to Dream swaddle which isnt very good as he gets all worked up when he starts to suck his hand. I have also tried the Sleepy Wings together with a sleeping bag but we still get the startle reflex, hence he wakes up a fair bit at night.

Has anyone used the Halo Sleep Sack with success? Is that safe to use once bub starts to roll over?

Have you tried the Mothercare Miracle Blankets? They worked a treat for DS (DD found them too tight).

We loved the sleep sack - so easy to wrap DD. Would definately use again if we have another bub!

Woombies are great.

Really firm, but still allow as much movement as they could do in utero at full term. Allows their legs a little more movement, which is good for hip development, but their arms aren't flying about like some more angel-style ones.

Tip - if you think it's too small, it probably fits really well. They should be quite snug, so follow their size guidelines.

I've tried the sleep sack - DD2 hated it but she hated all swaddles. I tried one of everything in an attempt to get her to stay asleep for longer than an hour but nothing worked. Nothing! I think if your child liked to be swaddled arms down and loose around the legs then it would be a great option. Once they start rolling there's the option of leaving arms out of the swaddle.

The Woombie is a good option if your baby can handle some arm movement inside the swaddle - it's not as loose as the love to dream swaddle and arms can't get up near the face but can still move around a bit. Not much leg movement in a well fitting woombie either. Not great for rolling mind you.

If your baby already can roll and you're looking for something to help transition away from swaddling, we found Peke Moe's great with my first daughter.

Hi hi, I went to Mothercare to try out the blanket but found that there's no access below to change nappy?? Have to remove whole swaddle to do that. I thought that is quite a hassle though his arms are restricted. And then I left bub's love to dream swaddle at the shop cos we removed it to try the blanket on him.. nothing to use tonight but normal cotton wrap. so scattered brain of me.
