I know this has been done to death and I know I have even done it a few times but I am still so confused. Hoping our car will be sold today so we need to look for a new car. I want a car with at least 4 anchor points 5 will be even better. I will have to at times have 4 anchored car seats in it but mostly only 3. I also want a big boot to put my double stroller in and bags when we go on holidays etc.

I like the look of the grand carnival from 2006 onwards but so many say they are duds. If we buy a car and it has engine probs (yes I know it could happen with any car) DH will be I told you so as he asked a mechanic and they said not to get a kia although he would have said carnival not grand carnival, he still can't get that they are different cars. I love the big boot space in them.

He wants a tarago but I think they are a waste of space since we cant' put our children in the back seats as there is no anchor points there. His argument is you can't kill them but I say its not practical.

What other cars with a big boot space that can fit 4 anchored car seats in it is there?

just in defence of the Grand Carnival, I have the 2010 model, I absolutely love it!

the only criticism i have is the 2 lap only seatbelts. i only use them when i have to as i don't believe they're very safe.

they are however fine for carseats, and as i only have 4 children i won't need them on a regular basis.

the boot is fabulous as is the flexibility of seating arrangements, due to the number of anchor points and the removable middle row seats.

i have taken out one of the seats (passenger side middle row), and use the extra space to kneel in when putting the little ones into their carseats, and this space doubles as extra space for luggage and/or shopping.

no mechanical issues here, although i have only had my grand carnival for 2.5 years, and bought it new.

Well the Hyundai Imax has 8 lapsash belts, tons of internal space including a huge boot, and can have anchor points put into the third row. So we have 6 anchor points in total.

Great car, only problem is they haven't been around long so I don't know how many second hand ones are around for your budget.

We have a Grand Carnival (2008) and I love it to bits, the only thing we have been told is that the timing belt needs to be replaced every 100,000km otherwise you're in for big trouble. We bought second hand in October and so far no troubles. Also hheart.gif the boot space in them!

We have a 2006 grand carnival, no issues at all. I looked into the timing belt issue though. The carnival has a timing chain rather than the belt. I spoke to the mechanic ( and googled) and apparently when the chain goes it will just start making a horrible noise rather than snapping and killing the engine. Look into it.
