We're flying to the US in May with almost 4 yr old and 10 month old DDs. We'll be spending most of the trip in NY but plan to spend the first 4 days on the west coast.
Trying to decide whether to go to Disneyland or spend those first few days in San Diego and do Legoland and Seaworld. DH and I went to Disneyland together about 10 years ago and had a blast. We've never been to San Diego. DH is leaning towards Disneyland again but I'm thinking San Diego as it will be something different for us too. I know the kids will have a great time regardless and think that Disneyland may be overkill while they are so young. Thoughts anyone? |

Disneyland
DS1 feels special as he has one up on his siblings as he has been to Disneyland.... At 5.5m of age. He lords it over his siblings as he has been there Pass out for parents with child who can't go on rides is priceless. DS1 did go on many rides... Pirates, haunted house etc in baby Bjorn. |

We went to all three last September. I think Disneyland will be easiest for you if you are short on time. Legoland is actually in Carlsbad which is about an hour away from San Diego on a train. There's also no connection from the train station to Legoland - you have to catch a cab. I thought it was pretty poor, particularly on a weekend that there wasn't some kind of shuttle service. It was midday by the time we got there so we didn't get to see all of it. Seaworld was good but except for the whales you can have a similar experience on the Gold Coast.

When you went to DL was California Adventure Park open? We went in 1999 and that wasn't there then. It's where you will find the new Carsland and Bugs Life world, both of which your 4 year old will love.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes ellebelle, went to California Adventure Park back in 2003 but I see there are new attractions since we were there. IsolaBella, did you go back to your hotel during the day for naps? Youngest DD does not sleep well in the pram so I think we'd need to spend a few hours in the parks in the morning, then back to the hotel for a nap, then back to the park for a few more hours. |

My kids hardly ever slept, so did not go back to hotel for naps (perks of serial cat nappers). DS1 at 5.5m amazed us by falling asleep in baby Bjorn in middle of pirates. Our days with him were 9am-9pm.

Another vote for Disneyland.
Seaworld and Legoland are great places but nowhere compares to Disneyland. We took our 10mth old DD. There are plenty of rides they can go on with the adults and there are all the characters to meet and play with. Stay at a hotel just across the street and you never need to leave the area. Very easy to walk back for naps we did this plenty of times. |

Go to Disneyland, like someone mentioned seaworld is pretty similar to the Aus one, except for the whales. Also there is more for the littles to do at DL.
