I hate seeing ads like this, a beautiful and valuable pet being discarded like it's yesterdays news. Wondered if you know a group who might be interested in responsibly rehoming her for the owners.

Nawww what a cutie! I got my boy because the owners were moving and he bolts (and kills chicken if you have any hence why the chicken farmers got rid of him) I did feel sorry for these owners as they were moving to a main road and her kids used to just let him out (they were young) and she was worried he would get killed.

Train your dog, it's worth it!
I will finish swearing a LOT, and then pass on the links to the breeders I know. I'm not sure why they haven't asked the breeder to assist with rehoming.

God I hate people sometimes. "Downsizing". We had our first elkhound in an inner city terrace. Its not really an issue. Bet they haven't trained her. mad.gif

Yes that's true, although I doubt if Norwegian Elkhounds are puppy farm material.

They are a rare breed and often the breeder will request the dog be returned to them if the owner can't keep it. And often a breed club or group will know of people waiting for one to come up, and not everyone wants a puppy.

She's a lovely girl.

Judging by the background and the stance, she looks like she's been shown.

That's what I was thinking. Bet she isn't in that condition now. sad.gif

If I get a response, I may ask my brother if he'd hang onto her for a day or so while we get organised. I can't really fit another dog in here, but would hate for her to be dumped or worse.

I couldn't believe they got rid of Bandit away at only 8 months old! DF's guess was that they didn't like that he got so big (even though they previously owned Rottis) and/or they didn't train him at all. We don't think he's a purebred. My Mum reckons he's mixed with Great Dane LOL He's very tall, long and skinny.

That makes it really strange that she's being given away for free on GUMTREE!

is it only a dream that there'll be no more turning away?
Grrrrrr.

I'm really upset right now. This is kind of local to me and I'd love a dog like this, but we're not in the position to get one for another few months.
