Hi,
My husband and I are growing to love the name Lara for DD2 who is due in a couple of months time. What are your thoughts on this name? Her older sister has started calling her "Ari" which we think is lovely because we are keen for her to be involved in the naming process. Do you think the nickname "Ari" is a bit of a stretch for Lara?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

I love Lara and I think Ari is fine as a nickname with it if you're happy to use it. Our Zara gets Za-Za or sometimes Zari.

I like Lara.

Ms Bingle will soon be forgotten.

I also like Laura.

If your daughter wants to call the baby 'Ari' she can - my big sister called me Strawb. - it's a hell of a leap from Melanie to Strawb. but 41 years down the track she still uses it on occasions as does my Dad!

How grand it must be, to be the chosen one...
DD is Lara, obviously I love it wub.gif

She gets called La, Lala, and Wa

Other bonus is we have never met another one.

Countrymel, DD is 9 and I was asked if she was named after Lara Croft when she was 6 days old. Um...no.

Edit since I can't spell

I also like Mara. But it's the most old-fashioned of the three.

Ari works well enough. Lara wouldn't be my first guess for "my daughter's nickname is Ari... short for..." but that's not a big deal.

I think I'd prefer people thought 'Croft' rather than 'Bingle' though!

But be more chuffed if they pondered 'Lord Byron perchance?'
