DD is starting Kindergarten this year. One of the requirements is to supply recess in a labelled brown paper bag including a "disposable drink bottle". DD only drinks water, would this mean she would need a bottle to throw away each day? It seems a bit silly and expensive. I don't give her juice (she won't drink it when offered by others either) so didn't want to give her a popper.
Lunch time they need their actual drink bottle. I'm not sure why she can't have her drink bottle for both recess and lunch? Why would it need to be disposable? Has anyone had the same request? |

No, we don't have that question.
Is there anyone you can call and ask? I think the brown bag is a bit weird too, especially since most schools are trying to reduce rubbish and encourage reusable containers these days, I know DS's is. |

No, and they could stick their disposable drink bottle where the sun doesn't shine. What a waste. I would check it with the teacher though, it might be some weird mistake (I just can't see a school expecting parents to provide disposable drink bottles every day), and if it's not you can politely tell them that you will be sending a regular drink bottle that your child can bring home each day. End of story.

maybe it means if you want to give the child a popper then that option is available to you?
I agree it seems really odd. eta- if they are serious then I suggest supplying a paper cup and writing 'please fill me with water' on it. This post has been edited by Excentrique: 17/01/2013, 01:58 PM |

Oh good, I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this odd! I will send her with her usual drink bottle and get them to clarify. It definitely isn't a mistake, they are very specific instructions.

I find both the brown paper bag and disposable drink bottle weird. Never had a request like that except for excursions where they ask that they do have their food and drink in something that can be thrown out however we want to do it.
There is no way I would be giving them a drink bottle to throw away each day. |
