Part vent, part WDYT
Currently just over half way with number 1, dont know what we are having. DH and I are so far apart on names it is laughable .. I like classic, elegant but not too common names, DH on the other hand i dont know what decade he is living in. To make things worse it took us 3 months to name our first dog, so im seriously worried this is going to become a big issue and i know he wont give in when im in labour We both have Penelope for girls, but unsure if i love it as becoming quite popular, Boys names is looking like Edward (Ted) - the only one we can agree on. -So does anyone have suggestions of names that might allow for DH bizarre taste while satisfying mine DH List Penelope Natalie Rose/Rosemary Heather Fiona Karen Michelle' Amy My list Penelope Helena Ingrid Klara Gwen Edit for format This post has been edited by countrychic29: 17/01/2013, 01:18 PM |

Your taste is much more similar than I thought it would be from the way you described it, Gwen has to be the most decade impaired sounding one there and it's on your list, not his lol.
I like Amy and Fiona from his list and Helena and Klara from yours without making changes. Suggestions you both might like: Natalia Rosetta Claire Helene/Helen Camille/Camilla Heidi Gretel/Gretchen Imogen Eleanora/Eleanor Lucille/Lucilla Lucinda Elke Philippa Aurelia Nicola Annika Erica Natasha Lara Laura/Lauren Michaela Tabitha Cynthia Lydia Susannah Eloise/Eloisa Louisa Alexandra Stella Emmeline Estelle/Estella Celeste This post has been edited by fifi-trixibelle: 17/01/2013, 01:31 PM |

I really like Rosemary and Fiona from your DHs list. But your list is fantastic (love Helena especially).
Penelope I think is becoming more popular, which is a shame. Elena Eleanor Fenella Catriona Saskia Cordelia Harriet Anabel Astrid Arielle Caroline Hope this helps |

I like Penelope.
DH List Natalie - 3 syllable ends-in-eee like Verity, Cecily, Coralie, Ianthe. Rose/Rosemary - I don't mind this, I like Romy/Rory as a NN for Rosemary. Fiona - Iona, Ione? Naomi? Karen - Karen is a form of Katharine...? Catherine, Katia, Caitlin? Amy - Amity, Ada, Ivy. I must admit, I don't hate Amy, it makes me think of Little Women. Gwen is nice, and underused. I might keep it for a middle name. I like Helena and it suggests Helene and Hazel. I prefer Clare/Claire to Klara. |

They all look a bit "decade impaired" to me, the only one I'd give any consideration to is Natalie, and my last dog very nearly got that as a name (she ended up being Jessica).
I prefer your husbands list to yours, but both lists have a "fairly old fashioned, but not enough to be trendy" look about them. Actually, I missed Amy on his list. That is a beautiful name. That would be my pick, with Natalie at number two and Gwen so far down the list it wouldn't be under consideration (sorry!) |

I'm not a fan of Penelope but if it's the one you both like I wouldn't reject it on the grounds of popularity. For me it's one for the generations rather than any particular era.
There's names I like from both your lists. These include Rosemary, Heather, Amy, Helena, Ingrid and Klara. Others: Irene Elaine Ellen Caroline Juliet Julia Hannah Frida Erica/Erika Brigid/Bridget Louise/Louisa Anita Monica/Monika Lydia Sylvia Petra Astrid Sigrid Felicity Karina Elspeth This post has been edited by Gudrun: 17/01/2013, 10:43 PM |

I wouldn't call any of the names on your DHs list bizarre, in fact I like his list better than your list.
