If a baby that has 3 meals a day plus breastmilk doesnt do poo everyday but does poo every 5 days? is that normal?

My now 4 year has never ever pooed more frequently than 3 days. often even longer though. his record was 15 days at about aged 2 months. and now he's about a twice a weeker!

My 8 month old goes every morning within half hour of waking, when she was younger though she went for 10 days without going.. and was never really regular. Ever since having 3 'solid' meals a day she has become regular.

Since establishing solids my 7 month old goes at least once every day, some days more. She never went that frequently on just milk, but since taking solids her frequency has increased.

If she is passing her poo easily, ie not pebbles, softish poo and she is well, then I'm not sure how it could be considered a problem.
It's not what my dd did at that age but there can be a wide range of normal.

When my 8mo DS was solely milk fed he had a poo every morning as clockwork.
Now he is eating other foods as well, I find he is going two or three times a day, not at all for a day or one big epic poo explosion. Sometimes squishy ( sorry TMI! ), sometimes solid. I think it all depends on what he's eaten, he is eating mostly what we eat now.
I think DD was pretty much the same.

I rang Health Direct about this on about day 3 one day - they said anywhere up to a week so long as the poo is still soft and easy enough to pass. If it's dry, crumbly or hard and pebbly like little stones then she's constipated.

If you want to get her to poo though, feed her stewed pears. Worked like magic for DS.

My DD poo's every day (sometimes only once, other times 4-5 depending on her fruit intake).

I can't relate too much because DD is on formula, but I think it can be quite normal for babies to not be as regular if they are on breast milk.

I agree with PP, try any type of fruit and I'm sure that should help. Obviously plenty of water too.
