Just wanted to thank everyone in this forum for all the help when breastfeeding was so hard nine months ago. Having not breastfed my first, it was a real success to get it working for my second.

But I'm back to work in a fortnight and unfortunately my little man fully rejects breastmilk in any form other than direct from the source, and my work hours are not conducive to morning/night feeds. So fully weaning was the only option.

I've been slowly dropping feeds for six weeks and he hasn't batted an eyelid about it. All we had left was his night feed, and he's not been showing a huge interest in that anyway - he'd have a short feed off one side then run off to play with his big brother.

So we had our last cuddly feed last night. Just for old times sake, I fed him to sleep and he was so lovely, all curled up around me.

He didn't even look for it tonight. He used to pat my chest when he wanted some. Nothing.

This might be my last baby. And I'm a bit sad.

In an ideal world I wouldn't have weaned him now. But I'm thrilled to have made it this far.

Good on you! I'm glad it's worked, and sorry it's bitter sweet to stop now.

I really respect the way you engage with breastfeeding discussions on EB. I look forward to the same passion and wisdom in new areas as your kids keep growing up!

Good job for getting this far, you should be very proud of yourself for giving your little one such a good start on life. Good luck with the return to work - it is really hard, so try to take it easy and enjoy the time with your little one as much as you can.
