Hi all,

I am 17 weeks pregnant today and so far have put on no weight. My belly is getting bigger and breasts (sorry for tmi), but no weight gain in kgs. I was a bit porky before I got pregnant and am eating heaps...all healthy stuff not much junk. But I am wondering if any other ladies have had similar experiences? I have a midwife appointment on Friday and will ask then, but thought I would put it out there into eb land.

TIA

I was speaking to my doc about weight gain because I don't want to put any unnecessary weight on. She said there is no need to put weight on till 20 weeks +. I have actually started losing weight.

and if you are average weight no more then 12 kilos for the whole pregnancy but if you were over weight I think it brings it down a notch.

She said it is important to eat if you feel hungry though regardless of how much you have eaten. She said aim for low calorie foods.

I'm using watermelon as a 'filler' - not really low calorie but lots of water to keep me hydrated as well original.gif

Don't worry Jmaz86. I was the same as you. I only started really putting on more weight after I reached 20 weeks, and I've only put on about 4-5 kgs since. I'm still tracking within the healthy weight gain marker on my chart my midwife gave me. A lot of people still can't tell I'm pregnant - only when I stand side on you can tell for sure.

A lot of people will worry about gaining too much weight. If you are lucky enough not to, don't fret. It's healthier and you will have less to lose once the baby is born. As long as your doctor, midwife or OB are happy with your weight then I wouldn't worry about it at all. My friend recently gave birth and she was so small - she looked like she was only about 15 weeks and she was full term. Her baby was perfectly healthy and a good weight.

My first PG was gradual weight gain total 11kgs.

2nd PG no weight gain until 22wks when I put on 4kgs in 1.5wks. Total weight gain that PG was 11kgs.

Third PG was a stop and start weight gain. Once again 10-11kgs in total.

Yep - Hanz33 is right. If you are hungry, eat. But choose healthy things. I used to love my cheese and crackers as a light snack and make sure you eat plenty of fruit. Fruit gives you the nutrients plus the all important fibre for staying regular. Some other posters have also suggested things like up and go's for late night/early morning snacks.
