Now I have to ring Centrelink and I wont be able to ring in the morning at work) as the school kids bonus has just been paid twice for the daughter that left school sad.gif

How long do you think it will take me to convince them of their error?

I don't know but do you have a savings account with high interest? If so put the money in there so you don't use it and you can make money off it original.gif

Update, apparently I now have a debt as the money is now going to the kids not the parents.

Despite the fact that she has never paid school fees, books uniforms etc. and she is not going to school this year!

Go figure!!

That doesn't make sense.

Did she finish at the end of last year?

Is she on Youth Allowance? Even so it is still paid to the parent until they turn 18.

And wanted to add - my DD finished year 12 last year , is 17 and is hoping to go to Uni this year but the money was still paid to me.

They paid me the school kids bonus and my son isn't even starting this year!
He is 5 next month but is staying in child care an extra year.
They sent me a letter stating if I don't tell them he is going to school by a certain date I wouldn't get the payment.
I never stated he was going to school and they still gave it to me.
So now it's sitting in my account until they notice.

QUOTE (yummymummycakes @ 16/01/2013, 06:23 PM) *
Now I have a debt which I am going to appeal based upon it being their error.....

so the fact that you received money that you were not entitled to, hence incurring a debt, means nothing to you. You instead deserve to receive money you were not entilted to receive because it is somebody elses error.

Is the debt the money they paid you in error? If so can you just pay it straight back? Or does it not work that way?

OP are they going to raise a debt to you for the amount and then pay your DD the money?

If that is the case and her YA was going to you anyway aren't they just going to send the money to your account anyway?

What a lot of messing about.
