I bought an infa secure exceed for DS1 thinking it would do us for a while with the 5 point harness because he isn't overly tall. But I have just realised that it doesn't actually have height markers so must have not been the newest model when I bought it ( less than 12 months ago)
Does that mean I need to either just do it up with a seat belt now or buy a new seat? He is 19kgs.

Since the inbuilt harness is tested with 22kg test dummies I would continue to use until my child was 21kgs and/or their shoulders were 2.5cm above top shoulder slot... Whichever comes first.

Yes you did get a 2004 standard seat.

I don't think there are any 2010 standard Exceeds - I think they're all still 2004 standard seats.

Well that explains it then wink.gif

Thank you for that Isolabella, You have no idea how relieved I am to hear that. His shoulders are still well below the shoulder slot.

How do you find out things like, how heavy the test dummy used was?

I'm aware the Type B Forward-facing Seats have a recommended weight up to 18 kgs. My concern is my child who is close to 18 kg, may have heavy clothing etc that may take him just over the 18kg limit? Are your seats tested above the 18 kg weight? #1012

Yes, all Infa-Secure's forward-facing (Type B) child restraints with an inbuilt harness are tested above the recommended weight (18kg) with a 22 kg dummy used which is equivelent to an average 6 year old child.
Also when in the booster seat mode, all are tested with a 32 kg dummy even though the recommended weight is only to 26 kg. This is equivelent to an average 10 year old child.
As our seats are tested above the recommended weight, it gives parents the assurance needed when travelling with children.
