Hi ladies ,it has been quite sometime since I have been on here....
I am after some advice or maybe others have or are experiencing the same as me.. My DD is 11 months old was eating 3 meals a day now after she has gotten over a virus and ear infection she refuses to eat. She will have a few mouthfuls of pasta but that's it if I try and give her yoghurt or anything else she lock tights her mouth and turns her head... I have tried the whole laying it in front of her but she just destroys it and throws it on the ground... As for sleep she is now waking constantly at night sometimes every half hour crying. Hungry I am assuming as she has some bottle and goes back to sleep again.. I just don't know what to do.. Should I give her more filling formula ? I am going to see our maternal nurse thursday but thought I would jump on here for any tips or advice or anything really. Thanks |

How did you go with the nurse?
I find that DS does sometimes go off his food, and especially when he's been sick or otherwise disturbed. I just keep offering and deal with the mess Could your DD still be in pain? Waking every 30 minutes for DS is usually a sign that he's in pain from his teeth. I am relatively generous with pain relief, and will give him Panadol if I suspect teething. He'll often be fine during the day but then very upset at night. It's probably because there are no distractions. |

KRT - Went really well with the nurse she asked me our routine and it appears that DD is having way to much formula bottles. She told me it is suppressing her appetite and I should cut back a bottle and offer more water during the day. She suggested I cut out her night time bottle but gosh no way I could do that so I have cut back during the day only offering a formula bottle when she is ready for her naps which is normally early morning and late afternoon. Then her bedtime one that's it.. In between that time I am now offering her water which she is loving. We have only been doing it since yesterday morning and already she has started wanting food. I can't believe it it's a huge turn around. And last night she woke once. The nurse told me not to give her a middle of night feed to just let her kind of cry it out. But at 3am this morning and a upset baby I gave in and gave her 1 which she deal the whole lot and went back to sleep for another 5 hours. Impressed. I can't do the whole let her cry it out. It breaks my heart to hear her so upset so I went with my motherly instinct that clearly she was hungry I can't refuse to fill her belly up. She only woke once I am happy with that. So happy. I feel normal today lol.

On the night bottles I think do what you need to, my DS always requested one at that age and certainly let you know about it but DD gets through the night fine without. I think each baby is different and it won't be forever, but agree a screaming baby at 3am isn't much fun. Glad the eating is going well, my DD loves her sippy cup with water I think as she is able to do it herself (and also chew the top of the cup!!).
