Hi all,

I had my first dating scan at 7 weeks 2 days and the baby's heartbeat was 130 and all was looking good.
Exactly a week later at 8 weeks I had lots of pain at night, which I took to be gas pain as was in my stomach rather than crampy period-like pains, then in the morning on first wipe I had a small amount of blood.
I decided to wait and see and have had no more spotting and aside from a little constipation and discomfort, no real pain either. I'm now 9 weeks 1 day. all other symptoms remain (mild nausea, heavy breasts, tiredness).

I called my GP, she seemed happy and said if I'm still 'feeling' pregnant, she isn't too concerned but offered another ultrasound before my 13 week planned nuchal translucency anyhow, if I want it.

What do you think? Am I overreacting in being so worried?

I've had two spotting episodes - very light pink show followed by a browner show some hours later. My baby is fine. I trust yours is too xox

I would take the optional ultrasound, for peace of mind.

Spotting in early pregnancy is common, especially around the time that you would have had periods (4, 8, 12 weeks), but you know you won't feel completely fine until you have seen your baby is safe and well.

I had spotting from 9 weeks and then a full on bleed at 10 weeks! Ended up being a sub chorionic hematoma. I freaked out but sure enough baby was fine, I did have another bleeding episode at 12 weeks but since then all has been fine...

Maybe for peace of mind get another scan, can't hurt

I'd personally take the scan if it's being offered as I know I'd keep worrying till my next scan, but that's just me, I'm a worry wart in pregnancy. Nothing wrong with seeing all is totally fine and you can relax

This is just my story.

At 12 weeks 2 days I went to the toilet & when I wiped I had a small amount of red blood. I went to the local DR who did NOT do an US but felt my tummy & said all was feeling fine for my gestation. I had my NT scan 2 days later & unfortunately for us, our baby had no heartbeat.

I have read 100's of stories on EB where spotting has had no reflection on the health of the baby & then there are stories like mine where there isn't a good outcome.

If it were me, I would go and have another US just to see if they could pinpoint the origin of the bleed & double check that the baby was OK.

I'm really sorry Charlie23.

I also had spotting, from 6 weeks through to 10 weeks. Fortunately for us ours had a happy ending but I would definitely have the ultrasound just to be sure. I have read that although bleeding in early pregnancy is very common, it's never "normal," so being the stress head I am would definitely get it checked out.

In two of my pregnancies that eventuated in healthy babies I had brown-red spotting from 8-9 weeks.

I had spotting during weeks 9-10 when I was pregnant with DD. The pain can also be from growing/stretching. I had two extra ultrasounds during this time just for peace of mind. However, having an ultrasound will not change the outcome in the end so it is up to you whether you think it is worth it or not.

The chance of a miscarriage is much lower once you have seen a healthy heartbeat (though still possible), so I hope that the outcome is good for you.

It is so hard not to stress when you're faced with situations like this!

I have had bright red spotting in both of my pregnancies in the first trimester, DS is now 2&1/2 and im still baking the other at 20weeks.
