My DS3 hasn't had a bowel movement in 3 days, how do we help get things moving? He is becoming very unsettled. He only has breastmilk, could it be caused by something I have been eating?

If your baby is exclusively BF, you don't need to worry. It is common for BF babies to pass few motions at 3-4 months of age. They are just getting the most out of the milk as they grow, before starting solids. Just make sure you are getting wet nappies.

I think the record for my kids was 17 days!

Good luck

As PP said, BF babies can go for a while without a poo. Not nice though.

If it continues/gets worse, a friend of mine just had her son at the Chiropractor and it fixed his constipation. She was giving him suppositories to get him to poo for months, and the chiro sorted it in one visit.

Just something to keep in mind down the track if he still needs help to go.

I was told a breastfed baby can go anywhere between 3 times a day and every 3 weeks!

If you are worried you could give a gentle tummy massage, in a clockwise motion around the bellybutton.

Often from around 8 weeks onwards the frequency of poo's decreases. If there have not been any changes in his diet, ie still exclusively breast fed and he remains well then that is reassuring. You can only keep bfing him as usual.
If you are worried could you also call your chn for advice?
All the best.

3 times a day?! I wish .. my little one does anything from 6-12 in a day at 3 months.
I think she is still recovering from rotavirus .. 6 weeks after the immunisation.
Has anyone else had this reaction too?
