DP is going to San Francisco for a week on a work trip. He would be busy during the day and also most nights.
I just found flights for around $1400 and I'm seriously considering going. I would be on my own except for sleeping g so the benefit is really only the free accommodation.
I would leave in 10 days. Would you do it ?

It depends what I was after - if I had the spare cash, the spare time and was comfortable sight seeing on my own - absolutely! And I would LOVE to go to San Francisco.

If it was just opportunistic because there's free accommodation then no, I would use that money to go on a proper holiday together somewhere more affordable and have quality time together.

Go for your life! It sounds perfect to me - time alone to do your thing, and conpany at night when your wandering is curtailed. Well jealous!

Oh my god yes.

I often book flights with one or 2 days notice because I get sick of work and need a long weekend, but that's only domestically.

As long as you have a passport, I'd be right on that.

Yep, and have, kinda :-P I wasn't by myself though - my DH was flying into Chicago, the city my best friend lives in. So we flew over togther (albeit him in Business, me in Economy! Stupid United wouldn't let us swap seats haha) had the weekend with my best friend and her DH, he worked for the week (out of the city so I didn't see him at all except for one dinner together), then we had one more day together and flew home. We had about 10 days notice too...

San Fran is a GREAT city. You won't have trouble entertaining yourself day or night! I'd even try to book myself on a day or overnight tour up the the Napa/Sonoma valleys :-)

yep, go to alcatraz and shop.

if you're ok with doing a lot by yourself then you'll be fine. if you hate doing stuff alone then stay home where you can catch up with friends etc.

Absolutely!

But then, I love being on my own and would love doing my own thing and just occasionally catching up with DH. Not that I don't also love travelling with him, but I don't feel like I have to.
