Well im 38w3d today.

I woke up at 3.20am with strong braxtons and pain and discomfort with them, anyway i have had them on and off until 1pm, then nothing for a while. Now another couple of strong BH with pains, im hoping this is it original.gif Im ready to meey my wee man.

So tell me about your prelabour experiences? Was it long? Days/hrs?

This is my second bub, first was a SROM long labour not much progression myself, so got epidural, drip and then DD came. Was 26hrs from waters breaking to her delivery.

Just trying to fill the time really, lol. Im happy to hear the good, the bad and the ugly original.gif

Not sure if this helps ----- but I've had Brixton hicks that are strong enough to make me really notice for about a week now. There is no regularity to them but its a few every hour, then none for a while then it starts up again. I'm now about 36 weeks. I was thinking it might be early labour signs but the doc didn't think so.
With DD1 waters broke and contractions started every 6 minutes and stayed that way for 2 days. In the end I had to be induced. That was at about 37 weeks.
DD2 I lost the mucous plug at 38 weeks and lots of BH but nothing happened and I was induced at 39 weeks.
I keep reading that BH contractions means labour should be soon but for me that wasn't really so.
I hope you bub arrives very soon. Keep us posted.

With DD I had no pains at all until 40+3 when I started to get them every 8 minutes, they went on all day but weren't painful. DD was born 40+5 after my waters broke and there was meconium so had to go on the drip.

With DS I had braxton hicks from 38 weeks. They were usually painful/uncomfortable but not consistent. DS was finally induced at 41+4. Yeah thanks for that DS wink.gif

I should add that these pains/contractions are different to BH, ive had BH since 20weeks, they are uncomfrtable but this is defenatly my body ramping things up.

Ive had a couple more since my OP and am hoping this is the start of things now.

I was just coming in to make a similar post OP! I'm 38 weeks and I've been having painful Braxton Hicks on and off for a few days. I thought things were going well on the weekend when I had painful enough contractions and lower back pain to keep waking me up all night and by morning it had fizzled to nothing :-(

With my DS my waters broke at 36+3 and I went into spontaneous labour without any warning signs. Although I am so happy to have made it this far it feels like I've been pregnant forever! Hurry up baby I am so ready to meet you!

Hope this is it for you!!! I think if the contractions can be timed and are regular it very well could be.

Your fist labour sounds just like my first, and now i'm 38+7 weeks with number two. I have had nothing but normal braxton hicks so far and apparently baby is 4/5th engaged (which means nothing really). My hips are killing me and now i'm ready to get this show on the road!

Good luck to you!

Started losing plug 5 days before due date (I think 1 week after Dr saying I was showing no signs of anything happenning with my cervix). Maybe 3 days before my due date started having contractions.... I don't know how many I had before my brain suddenly went "hmm maybe I should time these". lol. They were as close as 6 minutes apart then longer, then shorter... for hours on end. When I laid down to go to sleep it was worse. Couldn't sleep all night. The sun came up... they stopped rant.gif Next night same thing - I just tried to sleep through it as I figured if labour was coming I would be exhausted! Lovely ladies on EB told me it sounded like he was posterior. Friday had an appointment with a paed at the hospital and had contractions while there - he made me go up to delivery to get checked out... turned out my waters were leaking as well so they said come back tomorrow morning for induction. Went back that night at 1am with painful contractions/ back pain every 5 mintues. Got there.... it stopped rant.gif
Had rotten night with poor treatment. Our midwife from the day before arrived 7am and broke my forewaters. 6 hours later he was born. He was face up but he turned in labour. I had to labour on all fours nearly the whole time. Little bugger biggrin.gif

Good luck I hope you get somewhere. If you get too much back pain.... try being on all fours as much as you can just in case bubs needs to roll over biggrin.gif
