We have been TTC#2 for 13 months now. Have been using OPKs and tracking dates and ‘bodily’ signs (though not temperature) for 6 months. DS was a surprise who came about have the taking malaria tablets and using condoms but we obviously missed a crucial one etc. I guess we thought #2 would happen quickly but now we are starting to get a bit frustrated – DS will be 3 in March. I am turning 34 in March.

My cycle is a very regular 28 days – in the 18 months I have been tracking it, it has varied to 25 days only twice – last Sept & Oct. I seem to O around CD 15 – but have had a few times where I have had a few days of positive OPKs usually days 13/14 – 16.

I saw the Dr in December about something else and mentioned to her how long we had been trying etc. She took bloods to check thyroid function etc and they all came back normal. She also ordered a test to check my ovarian reserve – this came back at 10.3 which is lowish apparently but she didn’t seem concerned and said that the test is fairly new and unreliable.

My question is – what is the next step from here? She said to come back in Jan/Feb if we didn’t get preg over Christmas/New Year and we would take it further. I am going to make an appointment for the next few weeks but just wondered what the next step might be?

Also is there anything else I could do to help things? Acupuncture? Naturopath?

Hi hi . I'm just looking at get a referal to a fs for DH. Although we haven't been ttc long, I was a bit worried about his semen analysis. So I think maybe ask your GP to write your partner a path test for a SA. And maybe get that dye put through to make sure your tubes aren't blocked etc.

I've just recently reached the same stage as you. I'd suggest going to your doctor, who will give you a referral to a fertility specialist. He/she can give you and your partner all the test and scans and talk with you about the results and option that can help you get pregnant.

I've been to the FS once. The doctor gave my DP a semen test, at the FS she discussed the results and asked some questions about our TTC. Then we both had to get some blood tests done. I'm expecting next time will be all about me with tests and scans, to see if there are any problems. Then discussions of what options are available that suit us.

Hi, yes do get a referal to an FS and ask for an SA for your partner too (one third of all fertility issues are with the male). My FS has been great, the first option (Clomid) isn't working to well for me as I still have a short luteal phase and now he is helping us look at other options. Good luck!

I tried for #2 for 11-12 cycles before getting tested. I had an AMH of about 2 and high FSH so they wanted to sign me up for IVF. I spent weeks reading online, started chiro and acupuncture and stopped coffee and alcohol and I was pregnant within 6 weeks. As you can see from my sig she arrived safely. I am not convinced about this AMH thing being the end of the world. I'd try natural things before hard core fertility treatment. Oh, I also took clomid the cycle before I got pg so I don't know if that did anything for the following cycle? If you read the forums around the world the medical pages will tell you chiro and acupuncture are a waste of time but actual women will say otherwise. Good luck. Obviously you can get pg so don't give up!
