I'm planning on a little trip to Asia (sans kids..woohoo!) with a gf. I have enough points saved up so thinking of going business or premium economy with Qantas.

What's premium economy like, or should I go the whole hog and do business?

TIA

I am pretty short so find that the premium seats are pretty good and the food better so for short trips would do that. For the longer trips business is fantastic if you can afford it.Are you upgrading or buying the whole ticket because you can only upgrade one level, economy to premium, premium to business. Plus no guarantee of the upgrade till the day of travel.

I'm so jealous. original.gif

Go the whole hog if you can. My sister often flies business and says how great it is. Recently with her DH & kids flew economy and wasn't too pleased in comaprison.

We're flying economy overseas late Feb and I'm worried about the flights but more with how the kids are. At least you won't have that problem.

We got upgraded to Premium Economy on a flight from LA to Melbourne, it was FANTASTIC. More space, different food, and it was quieter as it was separated from the rest of the cabin. Sparkling wine served while the rest of the passengers were boarding, too! original.gif If I could afford to buy the premium seats up front, I definitely would.

If you're using points for the whole flight, I'd just go business as its not much difference in amount of points and the best use of them these days.

Premium is nice, I've only been upgraded to it not actually paid for it. If I'd paid the premium price I think I'd be a little less impressed. It was really just a bit of extra leg room and a separate cabin.

So I vote treat yourself and go the whole hog original.gif

Will you be back in economy on your next trip?
I have done premium economy to L.A. from Melbourne before and it was great but it didn't scar me to go back to economy after that. I would probably cry in economy after spending time in business class.

For a short flight to Asia, premium economy, it's much better sevice as there is less people, the bigger seats weren't the winner for me. The extra recline was amazing though.

Extra luggage and priority boarding were a plus.

If you were going to Europe or America I'd say go full business, but to Asia premium economy should be enough fancy extras for you original.gif

I haven't been on Qantas but have done Sydney to Ireland several times with Virgin and Etihad. Premium economy is good but business is the way to go if you can. Last year DH and I did that trip twice with DD at 3months and 10months and business was brilliant. Great food and the extra space is well worth it. We used our points to upgrade.

I (shock horror) didn't actually like premium economy.

DH and I got upgraded on a flight from Sydney to Bangkok for our honeymoon. The seats were wider and you got more leg room, but you were also more enclosed at the sides and I like to lol over my DH during the flight and I couldn't do that in premium economy.

If I was using points to upgrade then I would go business.
