Fembo, not tart.
http://www.news.com.au/travel/australia/ru...9-1226547051154

I saw this video and thought it was rather funny and a bit cute. Unfortunately, a few people commenting on it found it ugly and embarrassing.
It was designed by a Dutch artist and as a Dutch(wo)man myself, I know that this is just part of Dutch humor and not a lot of Aussies understand Dutch humor. Have found out many times I the last decade sad.gif

WDYT? Ugly, funny, cute or embarrassing?

(Whether it is art or not, is not the question. What is art for one person, might not be for another and vice versa. It's very personal I think.)

Edited as it seemed the title was confusing....

I don't see what is embarrasing about it. I think it's cute. It's not like it's a huge inflatable fanny or bumhole (who knows what your dutchies might come up with honestly... a duck seems pretty innocuous to me considering wink.gif)

I don't get how it can be embarrassing? I think it's rather cute and as modern art goes, a good concept.

laugh.gif I love it. I would consider it art, it is interesting, elicits conversation and creates emotion.

My parents are Dutch, and I do agree, we are sometimes misunderstood. (When my husband reads anything weird (usually weird technology stories), he usually laughs and says they must be Dutch... and usually they are. laugh.gif

But I love the rubber duck, and wish I was in Sydney to go and see it.

I am not getting it

What exactly is the 'dutch humour' that would come up with this? What is the joke? the punchline?

It is cute, sure. I love rubby duckies, and it is, of course, reminiscent of our EB duck

But funny?

Don't know

I also don't understand why your thread title is Art or not art, yet in your post you say it's not a question of art?

Have I had too much wine?

I think it's cute, probably not what i'd consider art. But then again whats is art really?
When I was in Auckland about 2 yrs ago, there was a big rubber duck (looked the same as this one) in the harbour there. So I guess this is not the first time she has done it? Or was that just a coincidence?

I agree with PP, it's cute but not particularly funny really.

I agree with this, but I am fairly sure I haven't had too much wine. Or any, even.
