Hi, I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my KA next week and stocking up on baking essentials.
It seems baker's flour at the supermarket comes in either 1kg boxes or 10kg bags. Just wondering what would be the best way to store it if I bought the 10kg bag? Or is it better to buy little and often? And yeast is available in either the 7g sachets or the tube. Which do you buy and do you have to store it a special way eg in the freezer? Thanks! |

I buy the tube of yeast and store in fridge. The flour is in a container in the cupboard.

I buy the 10kg bags and dry instant yeast in a tub. Both just sit in my pantry in the containers they came in. In saying that, I do bake bread most days so I tend to go through it fairly quickly. If you won't bake as often I suggest getting a big plastic tub and fitted lid for the flour and yeast to keep out insects and other crawlies.

I have the large square Decor tubs with the blue handles in my pantry for the flour and the yeast is in the fridge.
