I came across this video on face book. I am posting it here to share such an important topic and because not long ago there was a thread on here about this very issue. I am not posting this to cause debate, or for people to argue their beliefs. KeepTheFaith, it's about the fallout that happened when the same sex partner of a man in California died and his homophobic family pushed him away and his non existent legal rights in their mortgage and business etc.

I have seen that before and my heart just broke for him the love that you saw between both of them is something so special everyone deserves to have that no matter what gender.

Thanks for that Howdo. It sounds very sad indeed- I struggle to understand people who cannot accept true love between consenting, understanding adults. My best friend is gay- he worries about what would happen to his (fair bit younger) partner if he was to die. Don't think I'll watch it tonight. Crappy night does not need to get crappier.

It was wrenching. I feel sorry for Tom to have such an intolerant family who couldn't love him for who he was. They were probably devastated by his death and grief makes people do strange things. If that was me, I would want to know the person who was my child's significant other for the last years of their life. Perhaps they will come around, when some time has passed. Regardless, it's why marriage equality receives so much attention. For gay and lesbian people, the stakes are very high.
