Looking for advice. My right foot has become extremely dry recently due to the warm weather and walking on sandals all day. My heel isn't cracked, but skin under my foot and around my toes is flaky from the dryness.

I have a foot rasp that I use after a shower, to get rid off dead skin. I have tried all sorts of ointments and creams as well. Some intensive creams from Avon, plain sorbolene, plain vaseline and even olive oil and heel balms. I wrap my foot with clingwrap and put a sock over it at night to make sure my skin absorbs the cream as best as possible, however nothing has worked so far.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? The pharmacist was quite useless and my GP said it wasn't a real medical problem and so I should just ignore it. Yet it looks terrible when I wear open toed sandals

If you haven't tried Eulactol heel balm then you definitely should. It can take a week or two or repeated application each night before bed but it really does transform the skin.

My other suggestion is Vitamin E oil.

I was going to suggest this as well.

I think they have any ordinary version and then a super intensive version of it which is a bit more expensive but it better than the cheaper one.

You need to use a heel balm for a few weeks. I use Heel Magic.

Have you tried Milky Feet? They are plastic socks with some kind of gooey ointment in them. You wear them for about an hour and then 1-2 weeks later your feet start to peel (that can take about a week as well, so not a quick process) and then you're left with nice soft feet. I had to do it twice as my feet were pretty bad.

One product that does work is something called Milky foot. It's even better if you put socks on over the booties. The problem is it takes a full month for your feet to look pretty again.

Where you are going wrong is you are trying to moisturise dead skin. You need to get it all off and then look after your skin.

Milky foot is available online for about $30 if you google. It's pretty disgusting while your feet are a work in progress, but it works.

After using that, use heel balm every day.

I first remove the dead skin with a foot rasp before I apply any creams.

I will try the Eulactol first and if that doesn't work, I'll have a look at the Milky Foot.
I've been trying to clear this problem for 3 months now and it's driving me batty

The lactic acid in milk is a natural exfoliant, so you could try soaking your feet in a milk bath before scrubbing, and then moisturising with the balm recommended

I went to a podiatrist yesterday for this. He "debraided" (read shaved) off some dead skin and then sanded my feet. He said to use Eulactal Gold - it's the urea in it that helps, the gold has 20% whereas the rest have 10% or less. He also said to wear socks when you can. I'm trying to put on the cream and then socks twice a day.

are you positive it isn't a fungal infection? Dry skin with a flaky appearance is very often an infection (much more common in the summer months due to the heat) and is very easy to treat with an anti fungal cream.

Be good if you could get it verified so you don't waste money on creams and moisturisers to treat dryness, when it mightn't be the problem.
