I do feel sorry for Batman, Justus and Ever At least one of the kids can walk around saying 'I'm batman' and actually mean it This post has been edited by Lainskii: 12/01/2013, 01:25 PM |

I'm just wondering on some of the pronunciations after a discussion with some relatives. When questioned by MIL on the spelling of Tayla, MKIL said she would have thought it was -lor and the mum pipes up and says that " no, thats silly as -la is how Taylor is pronounced after all"
I'm thinking Ever is pronounced "Eve-a" and Porch is pronounced "poor-sh. I shuddered reading the names though....... |

I think Annecy is quite pretty, especially reading the meaning behind it. I don't think Ace is all that bad either (except being a Red Dwarf fan I could never do it!).
But 'Notorious'?! Hideous! |

| Don't crowd Sir Walter, Edmund. | |

Fremantle Dockers coach, Ross Lyon has a daughter called Annecy, she would be about 6.
Can't say I am a fan of any of the names. |

As always with these lists it depends on who puts them together. How was the list arrived at? What does unusual mean?
I haven't seen an actual list but from what I've read here I would delete these as to me there is nothing unusual about them whatsoever: Blaze Ace Charisma Justus (been around for absolute ever) Ever London Cash Kingston I accept Batman, Porch, Notorious, Lychee, Bandit, Tibet... I didn't think Ever was that unusual? Unusual, yes, but not unheard of newsworthy original.
Haven't heard of Annecy but seems no worse than other Ann extensions like Anneli or Annaliese Ace isn't that bad, Kingston isn't bad , is similar to Kingsley which has been around forever. I know a lady in her late 30's called Charisma, no different to similar names like Felicity (similar in that they are a word for an intangible noun of a positive connotation) Have met children called Blaze and London before, not my style but not objectionable to me. Haven't heard of Justus, not unsimilar to Justin though which has been around forever. Unless it is misspelling of Justice, which I don't mind either, is just one of many virtue names. Must admit it is hard to defend Batman or Bandit |

Ace isn't all that unusual, nor is Cash. Where are they getting their data from?
I work with newborn baby data and these are names that would not have been "out there" last year. |

Well, there's a Justus Liebig University in Germany, so I think maybe it's not unusual in Europe. A friend of a friend was a backpacker called Justus, pronounced Yoos-toos.

I accept Batman, Porch, Notorious, Lychee, Bandit, Tibet... Yes, Notorious and Porch are hard to defend too, maybe Lychee's parents were inspired by a baby called Apple? And I guess Tibet is just a place name so I can accept that one . This post has been edited by 4kidlets: 12/01/2013, 05:13 PM |
