Ceaser Mater Private Bris, anyone?

hi We are booked in for a Ceaser at the Mater in Brisbane. As we are new to town just wondering if anyone else can share their experience there and any pointers I need to know! thanks

I've had 3 c/s at MMPH, 3 great experiences. 2 emergency c/s (children 1 and 3) and one booked c/s. My only piece of advice is to nag them to get you up and about the next morning. You feel so much better once you have had a shower and are in normal clothes. Also keep on top of pain relief for the days immediately afterwards. Good luck - exciting times. Have you been able to choose your paed ? I know most of them up there if you need any recommendations.

I had an emergency caesar at Mater Private Mother's Hospital. It was a good experience all things considering. We were able to hold our twins briefly before they were rushed to special care. All of our specialists made the effort to answer all of our questions before hand. We gave our camera to a nurse and she took some terrific photos for us. Including a most treasured picture of our duo resting briefly on my chest. If it wasn't such a rush, in hindsight I think I would have asked to see the placentas. I would recommend having a shower as close as possible before the operation, as it will be awhile before you are able to stand again and have one, The nurses assisted with a sponge bath for me in the interim. Be prepared to spend a little while in recovery. It would be worth asking if baby can go with you to recovery. In our situation, the babies were too small and rushed to NICU, special care. As per my wishes, DH stayed with the babies. I was all alone in recovery, which was a strange feeling knowing that I had two children, but not knowing how they were. I was then wheeled upstairs to see them as soon as allowed before being taken to my room to rest (I was pretty sick with HELLP). Food is excellent and there is a bench seat that doubles as a bed that DH was able to squeeze into to sleep on overnight. The Mater baby rugs are great as well and were were allowed to take a few home with us. Good Luck and enjoy your newborn cuddles!
