I have no idea where to start in looking for a convertible car seat suitable for newborn to beyond.

My son has outgrown his steelcraft agile capsule (for sale if you are interested) and I need to now buy a convertible car seat.

I see some are 0-4yrs and others 0-8yrs
I dont know what features to look for.....Some has their own sound system!

So please help me:

What did you buy?
What do you love/hate about it?
Easy to use/keep clean/ longevity/ value for money/ not hot (I live in QLD and am concerned baby will be hot with all that padding)
Scored the best in terms of safety rating?

I think that's it for now, I just need to start somewhere

Only go for 0-4yrs. Things will change in the future and the safest seat of today could be the future bad performer as standards change and improve.

Infa 0-4yrs seats are good. They have high RF markers and decent FF markers which should keep a child secured to approx 110cm. So unless you child is super tall 4-5 yrs in 5pt harness.

SnS seats are good too. Same RF height markers. I know the markers on the Compaq are very high and will go to around 120cm in height, so 5-6yrs in 5pt harness.

Both the above seats are slim seats. The Compaq slightly shorter RF. they both work well for 3 across.

My compaq has lovely plain fabric (not plush velvet that some seats have).

There is no safety testing available on any of the seats which are available for sale. CREP have not tested ant 2010 standard seats.

I got my latest safe n sound on special at target. They often have a good deal on car seats.

Big w usually has plenty of infa ones too.
