My ds is 4 and has complained of random tummy aches for over one year. He also had a hugely distended belly. He had a IgG and transglutaminase blood test and the former was over 100, the latter 9. He is homozygous for the dq2 gene.
He had his gastroscopy yesterday and the doctor said it wasn't clear if there was coeliac or not. We have to wait for the results of the biopsies.
I wonder if anyone else has had this news after the gastroscopy? I cannot wait to find out. I wonder how the biopsies show coeliac if there was no obvious evidence on visual inspection?

the biopsy taken out should defiently show when they look at it further I forgot the words my specialist used but its not always what they see by eye. Waiting does suck, I remember when my 8yr old DS had his the specialist said he defiently has a bad case of it he could see it but wanted me to hold off changing his diet till results come back. my 2yr old is having a biopsy next week.

Thanks so much for the reply Carmen. Sorry to hear your two year old has to go through it.
I have a two year old also who seems to have odd stools and complains of tummy ache (not sure if she's just copying her brother).
She did have the blood test but it was normal. The dr said it is quite unreliable at this age. I wonder, what are your two year old's symptoms like?

sorry for the late reply!! my 2yr old is either very blocked up or has very loose stools never normal, he doesnt have any language at all but I think he does suffer from tummy pains and at the moment isnt coping eating diary but i dont know whats that got to do with coeliacs lol He gets very lathergic as well which my 8yr old was like. the blood test is very unreliable at this age so the specialist didnt pay attention to it, he said because of his problems with his stools and family history he wants to biopsy him.
