I'm hoping someone can put my mind at ease.

A very dear friend of mine has been doing IVF to try for a second child. She has just done an FET through Genea in Sydney and has had a BFP today. Her BT was actually supposed to be done last Saturday which I assume would have been 16DPO (based on how Genea used to do things when I was doing IVF with them). Her BT today (Friday) would therefore be 22DPO from my estimate.

Her HcG levels came back as 52 today, with the clinic telling her anything over 30 was positive. She sounds over the moon about the news, so clearly she believes her levels are good. My experience with HcG levels tells me this is actually a very low level for 22DPO, unless I'm missing something. I recall being told the same thing when I had a 16DPO level of 80, and subsequently miscarrying. A level of >30 is not really what I would consider a benchmark to be confident about. I realise that low HcGs can result in healthy pgs, but the odds are not high.

I'm quite worried for her as she has had several M/Cs already over the past 18 months.

Am I missing something? Has Genea changed the way they measure/report HcG and could this level actually be quite strong?

My results were considered borderline by my clinic on day 15 with a level of 113. Fresh cycle. Day 5 transfer. Therefore based on what I was told I wouldn't be confident with that result on day 22.

Going by the dates you have given, and the HCG today, it really doesnt look good.

All you can do is answer your friends questions if asked and help her through this awful stressful time.

Genea should have explained to her what they consider a good level. I had the talk before I started on what they consider a good level and what they consider higher risk . I wet through Genea Sydney clinic as well

I've heard one Genea (i.e. one in a different area not Sydney) is testing now at 13DPO (or 8dp5dt) which if they said they wanted over 30 sounds about right and 52 sounds right on track for those dates. All the best to your friend.

This Genea did once do 16 DPO then changed.

Sorry, just re-read the OP again. She is +6 days or so past when they would have done the test then? Even at 13DPO plus 6 days, that does seem like a low level for around 19DPO then... All the best to your friend...

I'm wondering if perhaps my friend told me her P4 levels rather than HcG as she isn't very up with the jargon of IVF. I recall being told a benchmark of 30 was good for P4 levels. I'll call her in a few days and ask about it if I can do so without worrying her.

Just popping back in to say my friend had a scan this week and more blood tests and all is going perfectly so far with her pregnancy. Good CRL, good HB, strong HcG levels. Everything crossed for her
