I have a question for the jewellers out there!
I was given a lovely ring for Christmas by my SIL. It is a gold plated brass ring with resin inserts from Sass & Bide. I have worn it a handful of times since then and it has started to tarnish on the inside (and make my finger green) and the outside has started to look kind of mottled (lighter bits and darker bits). The patterning on the outside is more noticeable when you hold it under a light but it is still there. My question is - is this to be expected from a gold plated ring? I know it will wear and tarnish over time but kind of thought the gold plating should last a bit longer than 5 or so wears? Or is it just my skin causing a reaction or reacting to the ring in some way? Should I take it back and say something? I can get the receipt if need be (or at least her credit card statement I am sure) – or is this normal wear and tear. I know its not an expensive piece in the grand scheme of thing s ($200) but thought it would look new and shiny for longer! [/size] TIA!
