The "Why? Why, Mummy? Why?" thread got me thinking about some curly questions DN has asked, including:

"What's a rhinocerous beetle made of?"
and
"What happens when the world finishes? Does it start over again?"

What twisty ones have your little darling come out with? And how did you answer them?

I answer as honestly as I can, and if I cannot answer, I simply explain that I do not know. Sometimes the answer is, "Nobody knows. Some people think *this* and others think *that,* but nobody knows for sure." She might ask what it is I believe, and I let her know, but I still explain that nobody actually knows the truth, and that she can decide what she wants to believe herself.

If it was about what beetles were made from, I would quite simply tell her I wasn't sure, would explain exoskeletons a little, and then suggest that perhaps we look on the internet to find out.

That's pretty much what we do too, Propaganda. I was just wondering what headscratchers other people's kids had come up with, for some Friday afternoon amusement!

My 3.5 year old son asked me how babies get out of their mummy's tummy. Taking the honest but appropriate to age, I said mummies had a special place that opens when the baby is ready to come out.

He then wanted to know where it was and so I went with "between their legs", and fortunately the conversation ended there.

However, in bed two nights later, he revisited by asking if I still had the special place, and when he heard I did, he suggested I have another baby....

My 4yo DD was under the impression babies came out your mouth

I showed her my c-section scar and told her that's where she came out but a lot of babies come out the vagina. Her response was "Ewwwwwwww, why?"

I said it's just the way we are made, in all honesty I can't fathom how that was a good idea either

Seb (my 8yo) asks me questions all the time and I feel like I am forever on google. He's very into everything science. The last question had something to do with atoms and electrons. I am so out of my league with him Unsurprisingly he got "Well above standards" in Science last year!

I worry that I will be out of league soon Xena, there needs to be some "parent's primer' on these things, so you have just enough general knowledge to get by, rather than generally knowing nothing!
