Rise of new strain of norovirus

I was interested in reading the increase in gastro cases and the emergence of a new strain of norovirus. I remember discussing with my GP about whether or not he thought the rotovirus vaccine would result in other gastro viruses taking the fore in children. Norovirus has traditionally been the cause of gastro outbreaks in the elderly population but I remember reading whilst researching the rotovirus vaccine after it came on the schedule, that there was a school of thought that with a decrease in roto virus infections that norovirus (or similar) would take up the slack (so to speak)

Noro is always developing new strains. Nothing new there. It also says there are more cases at this point in the cycle than previosly not necessarily that there will be more over all.
