Hi everyone
I really enjoy this topic and wondered what you think of the name Gage (for a boy) which we have chosen for our first and probably only child together - due in May 2013. My 24 year old daughter absolutely hates it for her brother and thinks he will be teased... "gay boy", "petrol gauge" etc but I have always loved this old name which is of french origin meaning "a pledge or oath, one who is defiant". We dont plan on giving him a middle name as I think Gage is a very strong name that will sit well with our surname (which has 2 syllables). Does anyone know someone by this name?
Thanks original.gif

Yeah the started off cute but went very evil and creepy kid, in Pet Cemetary. I will always associate that name with the Stephen King creation of the little boy brought back from the dead.

Ignorance is not a point of view.
I like it. My DS2 has a very similar mn, which got a resounding no from EB, but I love it. original.gif

Came in to say the same thing! When I saw the name "Gage" I immediately associated it with a very unpalatable character from a Stephen King novel I must've read 20 years ago, but couldn't remember which book.

So I guess I'm a 'no' original.gif Sorry!

I love it. It wouldn't go with our surname so we didn't consider using it. There are very few boy's names I like but that is one of them.

I know a little boy named Gage. He is a very cute kid. His brother goes to school with my DD and his name is Kody.

I say use it if you love it.

My parents changed my brother's name because my sister hated it and cried for 4 days straight. They had called him Keith and then named him Mark. My sister was 12.
