DH and I have been TTC #3 for two years now and had two rounds of IVF in 2012 which unfortunately were both BFNs. The problem conceiving seems to be mostly hormonal, so I am given Pregnyl support after each transfer.

On the second round we were lucky enough to get a frosty which we will transfer next week sometime. That means that according to all the blood tests, I'm likely to ovulate in the next 48 hours I think (I'm having another blood test tomorrow which is day 14).

So, I'd be interested to know how many of you would BD at this time, knowing you are ovulating and about to do an FET.

As I'll be getting Pregnyl support after the transfer, it is possible that we could conceive this month. After two years of TTC I'm sure the likliehood is quite small, but there is that chance. So that could mean, if the FET is also successful, that I could have twins. The risks associated with a twin pregnancy make me a little nervous, but it would obviously increase our chances of conceiving, so I'm in two minds.

What would you do???

I think it's only natural to think about it. I know I did think about it before my FET, but decided against it because my levels were inidicating around 3 follies.

I am 41 years old and have managed to get briefly pregnant once in 8 years of trying (inc. 12 IVF transfers)

I did. Resulted in a singletons pregnancy. There is a school of thought that believes the exposure to semen increases your chances. Not sure how true that is though.

It's so hard to know what to do. I'm doing a natural FET so no drugs, so I'm assuming that means I will only have one leading follie.

I would without question in your situation too, CountryMel. Absolutely agree.

TillyTake2, as you said you wouldn't, do you mind sharing why? I'd love to hear both sides as I'm genuinely confused. Is it the risks with a twin pregnancy, or something else?

For me it's a number of things...
1. How I coped with my DS in the first 6-12 months (this is the major factor) & the fact I think multiples would have sent me over the edge.
2. My experience with multiples born early with many health problems and disabilities
3. How far along in the assisted conception process you are (at the beginning I wouldn't consider it but perhaps much further down it would become a consideration).
4. How my body copes with pregnancy & also what help I have during pregnancy & after babies are born & how this wold be affected by multiples.

I guess basically my concern is the risk of multiples. At this point (particularly as I already have a child) I think my choice would be for no further children rather than risking multiples born early/with health problems and/or me ending up having a mental break down.

Everyone is different though & you may feel you could manage the above

If you think you could cope with triplets, including pregnancy, babies, toddlers then kids, financially, emotionally and physically, why not!

You need to consider what if not only they both take, but what if one splits.

I did this, more by accident then a plan and I am fortunate enough to only have twins. I would never have let this happened if I had a true idea of what could happen. I, in fact, did research twins and decided to put one only embie back, like I said the other was not a plan. It never occurred to me I could have got 3.

Also check out some of things that can go wrong with twin pregnancies, there are several on EB you can read through.

I understand how tempting it is to get a baby, but just think of all the possible outcomes before you decide.

A friend of mine did this and ended up with triplets! Are you prepared for that?

Um, no, I am not prepared for triplets! Cripes, I hadn't even thought about that possibility.

Currently on day 14 and my estrogen is still rising and haven't O'd yet. Will make sure DH stays in his half of the bed tonight after the thought of triplets!!!!!

I've another blood test on Monday morning, so hopefully that will show that estrogen is over 400 and we can set a date for the transfer.
